Architect in the House - 2012

Every year during Architecture Week, the Royal Institute of British Architects in association with the charity Shelter, promote this scheme to encourage clients to have a one hour consultation in their home or office in exchange for a minimum donation to Shelter.

The RIBA co-ordinates the public's response and refers you to a participating Practice, ideally within five miles of your home or office. All RIBA members participating in the scheme are usually RIBA Chartered Practices. We are such a Practice and have participated for over ten years. Each year we undertake an increasing number of visits.

Between 1999 and 2011 we have visited over 489 homes from Guisborough to Berwick. In doing so we have raised over £19,500 for Shelter. Examples of the projects we have visited and the matters discussed can be seen in the adjoining list of photographs. Following such consultations between 1999 and 2011 we have undertaken a considerable number of the projects discussed, ranging in value from £7,000 to £900,000. Indeed many of the projects depicted on this website began with a visit under the Scheme.

Architect in the House 2012 took place in July and we participated in the scheme. This Practice continues to run the Scheme throughout the year so it is never too late to be involved if you so wish, just give us a call.
