Private House, Matfen

An extensive scheme to refurbish and extend a group of 19C farm buildings, some of which were previously converted into residential accommodation in the late 1980s. The scheme included a range of measures to optimise the use of renewable energy sources by exploiting the available solar and thermal potential of the Site; demolition and rebuilding of one outbuilding to allow the creation of double-storey living accommodation; the creation of a fully glazed Garden Room to exploit panoramic views to the north west, across the valley of the River Pont; refurbishment of existing living accommodation, including insertion of new arched bi-fold door openings; and, re-roofing of a detached outbuilding in reused local stone slate.

We provided architectural services from inception to completion, including the submission of Planning and Building Control Applications, the preparation of a Tender package including stone component drawings, and the provision of Contract Administration and Principal Designer services as required by the CDM Regulations 2015.
