Architect in the House - 2011
Every year during Architecture Week, the Royal Institute of British Architects in association with the charity Shelter, promote this scheme to encourage clients to have a one hour consultation in their home or office in exchange for a minimum donation to Shelter.
The RIBA co-ordinates the public's response and refers you to a participating Practice, usually within five miles of your home or office. All RIBA members participating in the scheme are usually RIBA Chartered Practices. We are such a Practice and have participated for over ten years. Each year we undertake an increasing number of visits.
Between 2002 and 2010 we have visited 480 homes from Guisborough to Berwick. In doing so we have raised over £18,000 for Shelter. Examples of the projects we have visited and the matters discussed can be seen in the adjoining list of photographs. Following such consultations between 2002 and 2010 we undertook a number of the projects discussed, ranging in value from £7,000 to £900,000.
Architect in the House 2010 took place in July and we participated in the scheme. This Practice continues to run the Scheme throughout the year so it is never too late to be involved if you so wish, just give us a call. We are always happy to meet prospective Clients for a preliminary meeting without obligation. Please "click here to e-mail us" contact us to discuss your project and to help us to increase the funds raised for Save the Children.
